The purpose of (I)NTACT is to provide information about the problem of Female Genital Mutilation and to combat the glaring violation of human rights.
Benkadi e.V.
FGM is the abbreviation for Female Genital Mutilation. It is the international denomination for the excision of female genitals and constitutes a violation of human rights. Nevertheless, a lot of people in African countries hold on the practice. Why? BENKADI has the goal to elucidate the practice nationally and internationally and to sensitize the person concerned about its consequences. Lectures and discussions accompany the presentation of the film.

As we are aware of the time-consuming aspect of research and we want to make it easier for you to get informed, we often collect information for days or even weeks.

About the theme:
We want these designs to take on the role of a snapshot in time representing the 21st century and showing what is going on.
With these cuts all over her body we want to show that this operation (FGM) affects the woman's life and emotions, now and in the future. So, it destroys the women's life.

Female genital mutilation (FGM), also known as female genital cutting and female circumcision, is the ritual removal of some or all of the external female genitalia. Typically carried out by a traditional circumciser using a blade or razor (with or without anaesthesia), FGM is concentrated in 27 African countries, Yemen and Iraqi Kurdistan, and found elsewhere in Asia, the Middle East, and among diaspora communities around the world. The age at which it is conducted varies from days after birth to puberty; in half the countries for which national figures are available, most girls are cut before the age of five.
